Ice Pop Joy Where Delicious Meets Healthy"Help, I can't get my kids to eat anything healthy!" is a phrase uttered by many parents today, and one that brought inspiration to author and mom, Anni Daulter. Her solution can be found in Ice Pop Joy: Organic, Healthy, Fresh Delicious (9781416206255; $18.95; Sellers Publishing), which provides recipes for ice pops that showcase great alternatives to refined sugar desserts and snacks lacking nutritional value. The recipes she provides are organic, healthy, fresh, delicious, and get kids involved. "I wrote this book for parents who stay awake at night worried that their children arent getting enough protein or veggies because their kids flat out refuse to eat them. As a mom, I've had those concerns and know how frustrating it can be to try to get kids to eat something when they're not in the mood," said Daulter. "We need as many tools in our parenting bag as we can get. Ice Pop Joy is the secret weapon youve been waiting for. These recipes will encourage your kids to try new flavors and appreciate fresh, seasonal ingredients. Before you know it, your kids will be creating their own signature frozen treats filled with their own choice wholesome ingredients and sharing them with their friends!"The first section of the book offers tips parents can use to open dialogue with their kids about eating healthy, including: 1. Dont hide the ingredients from them. Ask for their suggestions on creating a signature veggie pop that you can name after them.2. Have your children be active participants in choosing ingredients for your pops.3. Keep offering! Allow your children the room to express likes and dislikes, but keep trying with veggies, as childrens tastes change as often as they do.Sometimes an unusual texture leads to the ewww response from children. Easily change the texture of some high nutrient foods such as tofu or kale by blending them into your pops. The recipes in the book are organized into chapters according to the main ingredientsused in them. These include Pure Fruit Pops, Veggie Pops, Yogurt Pops, Tofu Pops, Herbal Tea Pops, Chocolate Pops and Specialty Pops. The final section of the book offers a Resources section, listing online sources for the ingredients and other items used to make the ice pops, and a References section that provides further nutritional information about the ingredients used in the recipes.Ice Pop Joy: Organic, Healthy, Fresh Delicious (9781416206255; $18.95; SellersPublishing) is an 8.5" x 8.5", 144page, hardcover book with jacket that includes more than 70 full color photographs. The book will be published March 15th, 2011, and will retail for $18.95. It will be sold in book stores and gift shops nationwide and through Sellers Publishing's Website, www.sellerspublishing.com!
